Our people are heroes too, who consistently go the extra mile and who, when they are needed, step-up and make a positive difference to other peoples lives.
From Healthcare Drivers like Karen Richmond who delivers life-saving care along with her customers’ medication, to Branch Managers like Phil Neal whose empathy and early diagnosis helps to create positive outcomes. And then there’s Jaymie Carrington, whose quick-thinking literally saved the life of her colleague. These and many more like them are the people who make us proud.
In June, 27 Well colleagues took on and conquered the National Three Peaks challenge, and raised a fantastic £25,000 for the British Heart Foundation!
More than 30,000 cardiac arrests happen out of hospital in the UK each year, and less than one in ten of those people survive. The British Heart Foundation wants to cut that number by creating a ‘Nation of Lifesavers’, educating people about CPR and giving them the skills and confidence to perform it if needed. After weeks of training, preparing, and fundraising, our Well ‘Three Peakers’ climbed three of the highest peaks in Britain – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – in a 24 hour period on behalf of this fantastic cause. It’s called a challenge for a reason.
“For me, and I think most of the others – this challenge was so, so hard. Relentless and very unforgiving, but hugely rewarding, a great opportunity to get to know my fellow climbers. It’s fantastic to think that we’ve raised a life changing amount for such a worthwhile cause”
